GALILEE

A young man finds love and danger within the conversion therapy program he's conscripted into.

Based on the novel “Code of the Nightbird”, Galilee follows the story of Julien Grant (played by Mike Pratt), who we meet arriving late at Galilee Baptist Church, an ostensibly beautiful property in coastal New England with more than a few sinister secrets hidden below its pews.

Galilee's director, known only as The Major (played by Dennis Staroselsky), rules over what we discover to be a conversion therapy program with an iron fist; something that threatens to push Julien to the limits of his sanity. At first, Julien wishes only to survive the program, but when he develops feelings for Finn (played by Joshua Robinson), another young man in the program, he must reevaluate everything.

This short film adaptation consists of a set of four cohesive scenes pulled from an existing feature-length screenplay. Scene one depicts Julien’s arrival at Galilee (filmed at the historic Cole Memorial Chapel at Wheaton College, Massachusetts). Scene two details The Major’s ominous orientation to the program. Scene three shows the inner workings of the program, pulled from real-life modes of aversion therapy. The final scene of the film is a gentle conversation between the two romantic leads, Julien and Finn, in the church’s rec hall (pictured below).
